The Allure of a Diamond Pendant
A beautiful way for a woman to flaunt her fashion savvy is to wear a diamond-studded pendant. Pendants are one of the oldest adornments in the history of jewellery. From the ancient Egyptians who crafted them with serpents and gold coins, to baroque cameos, to the bling of the hip-hop culture, people have valued the classic statement made with a pendant necklace.

Today you’ll find diamond pendants made with a single solitaire or a collection of diamonds and gemstones adorning the necks of men, women, celebrities, and everyday people. Most opt to wear a single necklace, but layering can create a stylish and romantic effect. At the 2009 Golden Globes, Marisa Tomei draped two diamond pendant necklaces and two diamond chain necklaces to create a vintage air.

Pendant Styles
Solitaire pendants are found in an amazing variety of cut, colour, and carat size. Just about any cut we see in an engagement ring can be found as a pendant. Recent solitaire trends spotlight the asscher, cushion, and emerald cuts, as well as more traditional cuts like the round brilliant. Colour is another way to express individuality. Entertainment reporter Mary Hart made an impact at a recent awards ceremony by wearing an 81-carat intense yellow diamond pendant.

A time-honoured way to symbolize faith is to wear a pendant that represents religious devotion. Whether in the form of a Cross, a Star of David, an Islamic symbol, or another motif, pendants are crafted to respectfully and fashionably display your personal preference.

The recipient of a diamond heart pendant has no question as to the intention of its benefactor. Diamonds represent the brilliance and endurance of an uncommon love, and are easily tailored to individual taste. Heart pendants are fashioned in solitaire cuts, metal pendants with a single diamond, or encrusted with numerous stones.

Contemporary expression has broadened our traditional ideas of jewellery with diamond representations made of cartoon characters like Hello Kitty and Sponge Bob. Crunk rock artist Lil Jon can be crowned “The King of Overstatement” after purchasing a $500,000.00 blinged-out diamond pendant studded with 73 carats of diamonds.

Current Trends
Three-stone and journey diamond pendants are the latest trendy styles. The three stones represent the past, present, and future of a relationship, while the journey of a love is echoed in a series of varied-size stones. In a technique similar to the trend in wedding jewellery, solitaires are surrounded by micro pave. Finally, a fondness for the past is seen in the popular vintage-style pendants which feature Celtic, Victorian, and Art Deco motifs.
